Christmas Day 2020

12/25/2020   Isaiah 9:6  [NIV] For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. - In the eyes of the world, Christianity is confusing with its worship of three Gods.  The word ‘trinity’ is a theological word not found in the scriptures.  Many Christians are hard-pressed to explain to themselves or others the concept of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost; the three-in-one God Almighty [YHWH].  The Christmas story is magnificent and beautiful, yet unexplainable when considering a baby Son in a manger with a heavenly Father looking on and a Holy Spirit not yet fully introduced until the baptism of Jesus, and then only appearing to all humankind after the ascension of Jesus. - The deep wisdom of God Almighty is far beyond the grasp of our intellectual capacity.  God  knows I’ve tried and failed to godsplain Him in ba...

Angels We Have Heard on High

12/22/2020  Luke 2:8-11  [NIV] And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. - This was a defining moment in human history: Angels from heaven confirmed the birth and identity of the promised Messiah who was God.  The problem was, it was to lowly shepherds who had little credibility in the halls of wisdom and power.  Now if the angels had appeared there, surely the story would have gained more credibility and acceptance throughout the world and the rest of history.  - Again, the vastly superior wisdom of God revealed itself.  Christianity will always appear foolish and easily reduced to pathe...
============================ 2020/12/09  John 14:6  [NIV] Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.   The world objects to being excluded from God.  People who reserve the right to ignore or deny God can be furious at those who presume to deny them access to Him.  This is the burden the disciples of Jesus face when they share the gospel – the Good News of redemption from sin and separation from God.  It comes across the great divide as judgmental and exclusive:  join us or go to hell.   The problem is, Jesus puts his disciples in this situation.  ‘… for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved’.  Some believers choose to run with it and build walls between them and those who disagree with them.  They become blind to the barriers it puts in their way when they try to share the Good News....
